As herons and egrets make their daily way to nighttime roosts, we can watch
from the vantage point of a riverfront home that they pass. An evening low
tide (7.51 p.m.) after the nesting season makes this an ideal time to see and
compare herons and egrets of different ages and to watch their various feeding
behaviors as they make their way “home” to Kettle Island. Bring your chair and
insect repellent, along with your picnic dinner and beverage. The hosts will
have some blankets on the lawn and will provide Dick's famous fish chowder and
fresh fruit for dessert. Meeting Place: 31 Woodward Ave., Gloucester. Take
Route 128 to Exit 13, Route 133 East and go about 2 miles. Look for the Little
River store and intersection of Magnolia Ave. on the right. Woodward Ave. is

slowly. Be prepared for large numbers of mosquitos. 6:00 p.m.
