Out of State Trips
As a service to BBC members, Bill Drummond is leading a series
of out-of-state and out-of-country trips.
The trips remaining in 2008 are: comprehensive Alaska (early
summer); and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Jasper, Alberta to Prince Rupert,
British Columbia (later summer). The 2009 trips are Arizona (February); Colorado
Grouse Grand Slam (April); Montana/Wyoming (early summer); Nova Scotia and
Quebec with an option for Newfoundland (midsummer); Nome and Gambel, Alaska for
migrants, with a pre-trip to Denali National Park and Whittier (late August into
September).
The 2010 trips stand to be The Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas (January); Costa
Rica (February); Nebraska for the Cranes and dancing Sharp-tailed Grouse
(March); and The Hill Country and Big Bend National Park, Texas (April). Later
in the spring, there will be a comprehensive Alaska trip. In July, there will be
a unique trip to Colorado and New Mexico for birding and train trips, including
Pikes Peak, Canyon City, Leadville, Durango to Silverton, and La Veta Pass and
Alamosa, Colorado to Chama, New Mexico, and then back by train to Alamosa after
an overnight in Chama. National parks will include Mesa Verde, Black Canyon of
the Gunnison, and Great Sand Dunes, among others.

In addition, Don Wilkinson is leading a Memorial Day
weekend trip in 2009 to North Carolina’s Outer Banks for pelagic and land
specialties. Target birds for North Carolina include Band-rumped
Storm-Petrel, Black-capped Petrel, Swainson's Warbler, Red-cockaded
Woodpecker, Henslow's Sparrow, and Bachman's Sparrow. The trip is open to
