| February 4, 2008 | MASSACHUSETTS BREEDING BIRD ATLAS 2 Coordinator Joan Walsh will give the presentation. Learn how you can help with this very important effort. EVERYONE'S help is needed. Please bring a county or western mass atlas, or a good street map to the meeting. It would be helpful in defining blocks. Al and Lois Richardson will have the Gov. Survey Maps and will help atlassers in getting the block boundaries defined. |
| March 3, 2008 | Conservation of Birds in Japan How may we benefit from lessons learned from overseas? Dr. Robert Askins, Professor of Ornithology at Connecticut College, will speak on bird conservation in Japan in the face of ever-increasing threats of development. The plight of Japan's forests is similar to ours here in New England. |
| April 7, 2008 | Ticks and Mosquitoes as Disease Vectors As spring approaches we must be vigilant against disease carrying ticks and mosquitoes. Dr. Alfred DeMaria, Assistant Commissioner of the Massachusetts Laboratory Institute, will speak to us on this very important topic. The Institute's mission is disease surveillance and prevention. |
